PC Spotlight - Thamior Windwillow

Hello readers! Finally we have our first character spotlight! I'd like to introduce you to Thamior Windwillow. As a reward for the background, Thamior will gain the following trait and item:

Tattoos of the Hurricane: Once per long rest the tattooed creature can release the magic stored within the magic ink to cast Lightning Lure as a cantrip with Charisma as the spellcasting ability. The number of uses per long rest also increases by one at 5th, 11th, and 17th level.

Gemstones of Healing: Appearing to swirl with magical energy, three gemstones are set into a ring of gold. The gems appear as translucent rubies to the casual observer, however the gems are fairly fragile. When smashed against a creature, the magic from the gem is released and the creature receives 2d4 + 2 points of healing (as a potion of healing).

As a young wood elf, Thamior loved racing through the High Forest of Faerûn, both running through the trails on the forest floor and gracefully moving from branch to branch in the canopy. He began his training in Elven weaponry and techniques from a young age and earned the right to protect a sacred site in the high forest, far from his home village, when he reached adulthood. He was able to protect this sacred site valiantly for a few years and rarely faced an enemy he could not subdue with great speed and efficiency.

During a typical patrol, late in the harsh winter of the North, Thamior noticed a small orc scouting party, roaming the edge of the forest. The orcs did not immediately worry Thamior due to their number and location at the edge of the forest.  After deciding that this small band was not a threat, and seeing that the weather was getting worse, Thamior continued his normal patrol. The sun began to go down, and the sky darkened, as the weather intensified and the high forest was reminded that it was in the north.

Thamior settled in for the night and began to let sleep take him. Then suddenly, beating back the cutting wind was the sound of drums. The sound echoing through the forest, and shaking the snow off of nearby trees. Thamior ran out of his camp to see a huge band of orcs marching through the forest, ready to destroy anything in their path, and heading straight toward his home village. Ignoring the weather and his duty to guard this sacred site, Thamior ran towards his village.  He moved fluidly through the treetops and ignoring the cold burn in his lungs. Fighting through the pain, Thamior made it to his village before the orcs, successfully warning his friends and family. They were able to form a defense, though it was not successful, Thamior was the only survivor.

Wrought with grief and despair, Thamior left the remains of his village and began to wander the forest. After days of traversing the seemingly endless woodland, he collapsed out of pure exhaustion. As he felt sleep begin to take him, he heard footsteps behind him, ready to let the orcs who destroyed his home come and send him to his family.

Sometime later, Thamior awoke to a crackling fire underneath a warm blanket. Across from him was an ancient half-elf who introduced himself as Leosin Erlanthar. "We have been watching you for quite some time, Thamior, you are quite a valiant warrior." He said. He reached an arm out from under his cloak to stoke the fire, revealing his deceptively muscular fingers and forearm. "I know of a unique monastery that strives to protect those who cannot protect themselves. They model their style of combat after one of the most destructive force in nature, the hurricane. They do not practice the same traditions that I hold dear, but I think their ways will suit you better than my own studious predilections. I witnessed your commitment to your village and your skill in battle, Thamior, both protecting the sacred site and your village. I will take you to join the Way of the Hurricane should you wish to have a home again." Having nowhere else to go, and wanting to prevent what happened to his village to happen anywhere else, he agreed to follow Leosin, gaining a friend in the process.

Thamior remained in the High Forest, studying at the great monastery located high in the Lost Peaks. When not in the monastery, Thamior spent his time ensuring others pass through the forest safely. Whether that be providing small bits of food, or clearing a path when a group is lost. However, he would never show his face to the travelers in need, not wanting anything in return for his assistance.Wanting desperately to have the opportunity to protect others, feeling the anger of losing his village and family, and being a member of the Way of the Hurricane, Thamior has a unique attitude. He protects those he cares about with an unmatched ferocity, but will always respond to a challenge or difficult situation with violence.

Now, after years of training and guiding travelers through the High Forest, Thamior receives word from the monk who saved his life all those years ago. He must leave the forest and travel to Greenest to meet him. On his way to Greenest, Thamior continues to help those he sees struggling in the forest, providing food and felling dangerous monsters and predators that might harm the innocent travelers. One day, as he looked down from the treetops, he saw a small gnome having an elaborate, intense, and emotional conversation with a tree. Thamior will have to break his rule today.
